Human Hair
Most human hair used for weaves is derived from the continent of Asia (China,India, and to a very small degree, Southeastern Russia).People in the third world grow their hair for sale to specialty buyers who sell it to manufacturers.

What is cuticle?
The outside surface of a human hair, which contains “imbrications” or overlapping scale-like features. In wigs, this layer is usually removed by chemical means to minimize tangling. Remy hair and Virgin hair are harvested with the cuticle going in the same direction, and the cuticle remains intact during the wigmaking process.

What’s the difference between European, Indian and Asian human hair?
The biggest difference between European, Indian and Asian human hair is their thickness and texture. European is the finest and closest in width to natural growing Caucasian hair. Asian is the thickest overall and tends to be course in texture. Indian hair is the most popular type found in hair systems today. It is thicker than European but much finer than Asian.
There is also a widespread misconception that soft and silky hair is the best quality. Any type of hair can be made soft and silky through the use of certain conditioners or oil like silicon oil.

What is remy/remi hair and non remy hair?
Non Remy hair is different from Remy hair and virgin hair. The price of virgin hair is the most expensive, then the Remy hair then the Non Remy hair.
Non Remy hair is perhaps the most popular and commonly available form of hair. Non Remy hair is also known as “fallen hair”. The roots and tips of hair are all mixed up in Non Remy hair. Tangling is a problem as a result of this, but still since they are inexpensive, they are the largest selling kind of hair in the world.
Remy hair refers to human hair which has been harvested from root to end, with all the cuticle going in the same direction. It is different from Virgin hair as it may be colored or permed, but has not had the cuticle removed. It is generally soft and silky, and is used in making higher quality wigs, extensiongs, and hair systems.
Virgin hair refer to human hair which is still in its original state as harvested from grower, and which has not been permed, colored,or chemically processed in any way.It is carefully cut from the grower with the cuticle going in the same direction and preserved to maximize its special quality. Harvesting the hair in this manner takes more time, which contributes to the premium price of this hair.

What are hair extensions?
Hair extensions are a technique of adding hair that is not your own onto your own hair. This is achieved by different methods (Weaving, Braiding, Bonding, Strand by Strand, Latch hook etc. ). They are applied by skilled hair professionals and offer instant methods of changing your appearance. They can be washed, cut and styled to a person’s individual taste

Weave,Weaving:Refers to the process of sewing, braiding,or crocheting synthetic or human hair(either loose of on a weft) into a person’s own hair to create more volume and length.

Weft: An amount of hair or fiber which is doubled over and MACHINE-SEWN along the top to create a long strand of hair. This is also the type of hair strand used for hair extensions and weaving. HAND-TIED WEFTS are also available for use as hair extensions, but not generally used for making wigs.

Weft or Weaving:
Hair which is sewn at the top end either by machine or hand is known as weft. Hair sewn by machines are known as machine wefts and similarly hand sewn hair is termed as hand made weft. Any weft usually weighs around 100 gms. Depending on their quality they are categorized into different categories. They include Remi wefts and Non Remi wefts.

What is a Lace Front/Full Lace Wig?

A lace front wig is a type of hair replacement in which strands of hair are hand tied onto a base made of French lace, Swiss lace, thin skin and other types of materials. Once applied the hair appears to be coming directly from your scalp. It is a more natural in appearance than a typical weave because there are no blending associated with full lace and lace front wigs.

What is the difference in a full lace wig and a lace front wig?

A full lace wig has lace all around the perimeter and is ideal for those wanting to wear updos, middle to high ponytails and other styles where the back of the head and neck will be exposed. A lace front wig only has lace in the front part of the wig, and is ideal for those who do not care to wear their hair up.

 What is Remy hair?

It Refers to human hair (usually Indian in origin) which has been cut a single donor, from root to end, with all of the cuticle going in the same direction. It is different from Virgin hair as it may be colored or permed, but has not had the cuticle removed. It is generally soft and silky, and is used in making higher quality wigs, extensions, and hair systems

What is Virgin hair

It refers to human hair which is still in its original state as harvested from the grower, and which has not been permed, colored, or chemically processed in any way. It is carefully cut from the grower with the cuticle going in the same direction and preserved to maximize its special quality. Virgin hair can be of any ethnic origin, This is the most expensive hair of all because it is not as plentiful as lesser quality hair. In spite of the high cost, top-quality Virgin hair wigs are in high demand by those who wish to wear only the finest

What is the difference between Indian Remy and Chinese Remy Hair?

Indian Remy hair is the most versatile hair it can easily be curled, waved, styled and is less course than Chinese Remy hair. Most of our customers prefer Indian Remy Hair.

You should only choose Chinese Remy hair if you want a VERY straight wig, that is naturally shiny, and does not hold curl, and is slightly more course

Hair types:

Chinese Remy should only be chosen if you want a VERY straight wig that is naturally shiny, and does not hold curl, and is slightly coarser but does not tangle like regular Chinese hair sold in beauty supply stores. It is harvested from women and during processing the cuticle layer is stripped away in order to eliminate hair tangling.

European Remy (Russian Hair, Caucasian Hair) is a fine to medium density fiber that is naturally straight to slight wave and available in a variety of natural colors, most commonly dark blonds to medium browns. It has a more limited availability than Indian or Chinese and therefore is more expensive.

Indian Remy hair is truly our most versatile, exceptional hair. It is cut from one persons head & sewn in the same direction hair naturally grows. The texture is silky soft with subtle waves. It can easily be curled, waved/styled and is less course than Chinese Remy hair.   Occasionally, we will carry other textures in-stock.

Malaysian Remy hair is sleek and straight, with a slight bend, it moves and flows freely and holds curl well.  The hair dies straight, with a slight wave, which can be flat ironed if you chose.  It can also be roller set when wet, for a curly or wavy look.

Mongolian Remy hair is from the Mongolian people which are from China and Russia so it is a mix of the two cultures.  The Mongolian Remy is softer and silkier than Asian and Indian Remy.  Mongolian Remy has an in between thickness compared to the Asian and Indian Remy.  It has more movement and lays down smoother than its counterparts.  It also does not have as much texture as the Indian Remy therefore may only wave up slightly.  If you are looking for a straighter, smoother texture - Mongolian Remy would be for you.

Which is better, French or Swiss lace?

It really is a matter of preference. Swiss lace is finer, and more fragile, than French lace.  Swiss lace blends better with the skin for a less visible appearance. French lace is slightly thicker and more durable. Both lace types can be tinted different shades of brown to blend with a variety of complexions.

What are Bleached Knots? And why do I need it?

When a dark hair is tied to the base of a lace wig with a knot, you can see a dark dot on the skin, especially when the base is lace. Lace cannot hide the knot in the same way a monofilament base does. Bleached knots usually are only done at the front of the lace wig and it helps create the illusion that your hair is growing out of your head.

How long will my lace wig last?

The life expectancy of your full lace wig will depend on the care. Everyone will have a different experience due to the handling, care and daily use of their lace front or full lace wig. One should typically get at least 6 months out of their lace wigs before needing any repairs. Some will go at least 1 year before needing any repairs, but it all depends on each individual.

How long will it take to make my custom full lace or lace front wig?

Since the hair is individually hand tied strand by strand, it will take approximately 20-25 days to make your wig. Most wigs will be completed in 20 days, however delays do occur at certain times of the year due to a rush of orders.

Can i colour and perm my full lace wig?

The hair used on each wig is 100% human hair with no fillers. You can do these things to your full lace wig, however by doing so you take full responsibility of any problems that may arise and agree that Sunshine Wig is not responsible for any problems with your unit after any chemical process you or your beautician perform.

 What is baby hair?

Baby hair is the fine hair that grows naturally along the hairline. You may order your custom Lace Wig with or without this option. The fine baby hair along the hairline gives an even more natural look.

Can I wear this wig even if I have my own hair?

Yes. You will have to make your own hair as flat as possible, by wrapping or braiding it. Then apply a flesh toned stocking cap over your natural hair to simulate your scalp color.

How do I care for my wig?

When not in use, always store your wig on a mannequin or wig stand to maintain its shape. Frequency of cleaning will depend on your environment, lifestyle and amount of perspiration. Suggested guidelines for cleaning are after 10 to 14 days of wear. To clean and condition your wig, follow the manufacturer's instructions that come with your wig. Human Hair WigsSpecial products should also be used on human hair wigs because the hair in human hair wigs has been processed several times and is vulnerable to damage. Any high quality shampoo formulated for processed hair may be used, however, wigs.com strongly recommends you use the products made especially for wigs to protect your investment.

How to Attach a Full Lace Wig

Prep your hair, by creating a flat surface for the wig to sit on. You can braid your hair down, or apply a wig liner. Fit the wig on your head, and evaluate how and where you would like the hairline. The goal is to find where the hairline will look most natural. Gradually starting trimming the excess lace, the goal here is to create your hairline, only cut small amounts off at a time. After you have created your hairline, apply adhesive to the hairline, so it can stay on your head. The finished hairline should look totally natural, as if the hair were actually growing from your head.

How to Remove the Full Lace Wig

Put all hair up into a ponytail, so you won’t get adhesive on the hair. Apply the lace adhesive remover to the adhesive around perimeter of hairline. Gradually remove the lace, be care not to pull at the lace, Remove slowly. After you have removed the lace, there may be some residue left on the unit, you should shampoo the unit, and with a towel, delicately scrub the residue away. You should let the unit dry naturally or you can style the unit, how you would normally style your natural ha
